What is AD FS?
Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) is a feature of the Windows Server operating system (OS) that extends end users’ single sign-on (SSO) access to applications and systems outside the corporate firewall.
Basically it allows you to configure external systems to authenticate with your internal systems.

Effective March 1, 2019, Infor planed and then stopped providing discrepancy corrections and updates for the Lawson Security as Security Token Service (LS as STS) authentication mechanism for providing single sign-on (SSO) services to the Infor Lawson version 10 solution.
How do I detrmine the Authentication method being used for the Lawson System Foundation (LSF) environment?
The authentication method for a Lawson for Infor Ming.le environment will be one of the following:
▸Lawson Security for Security Token Service (LS as STS)
▸Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS)
▸Kerberos.
To confirm your authentication method, please export your SSOP service from LSF via ssoconfig with the instructions in the linked KB Article Id: 1193343 – SSOCONFIG:
Exporting service and identity info, for exporting the SSOP service; follow the steps for option A and attach to the incident.
Resolution:
Review the SSOP export and search for PRIMARYTARGETLOOKUP. The value displayed determines the authentication being used:
Verify passwords in Lawson Security
LS as STS in a non-LDAP bound environment. Account credentials are maintained in LSA.
Use ldap binds
LS as STS in a LDAP bound environment. Account credentials are based on the User credentials from the AD.
Use Claim Based
ADFS is the authentication
Use Kerberos
Kerberos is the authentication
The migration from LS as STS to ADFS is a complex process and therefore should be addressed by Infor Consulting Services
The different Infor products running within your domain (or in a hosted environment) need to be running the Secure Socket Layer protocol (SSL) and it is recommended that they are running the latest technology and product versions.
Moving to the Cloud
If you are in a Hosted environment, meaning the servers that run your Infor products are not “On Premises” you will either need an On Premises AD FS Instance or open the firewall to allow the Hosted AD FS Server to communicate with your On Premises Directory Server.
In an Infor Cloud environment it will depend on if you are running Multi or Single Tennant.
You would then work with the Infor staff to configure proper firewall settings.
